TIMBER
& LOG LODGE STYLE HOTEL SUITE-EXERCISE-CONFERENCE CENTER
For
the mountains. Rand Soellner Architect created this for a
client-community that wished to expand their services and rental
unit pool. A 25-person conference center and large lounge with
huge stone fireplace is on the main level, along with a kitchen,
employee break room, main complex office, and hotel suites. The
lower Terrace Level has an exercise fitness room,
housekeeping-laundry-storage, more rental units and children's
video game parlor. Upper levels include more rental suites and a
penthouse. Large timbers and logs frame much of the facility and
a combination of slate-look shingles and copper roof the lodge.
Old red foundry brick clads the elevator tower, which has a
whimsical steep spire and flag. A great place for executive
corporate retreats! |

Mid-rise Condominium. While a senior staff member at a
previous firm (omni), Rand Soellner was co-project manager on
this multi-million$ urban project 8 floors of luxury housing
units sit atop a 2-story parking garage. Two housing towers are
separated by a private park on the roof of the parking garage.
Rand was responsible for managing and guiding the working
drawing team, creating details, and in the design development
and value-engineering of the project.

Lake
Toxaway Wilderness Lodge -- Condominium
This
heavy timber, boulder-stone and board and batten structure
evokes images of the National Parks Service historic lodges of
the early 1900's. The unique plan allows the facility owner to
offer a 3 bedroom-3bath or 2BR-2Ba or 1BR-1Ba unit depending on
which doors are closed between the bedroom suites and the core
unit. A large Kitchen, Great Room with fireplace and Dining,
covered outdoor porch with fireplace, Dining/BR2 deck and
covered Front Porch are some of the special spaces in the
building. Exterior covered walkways are supported with 18"
diameter debarked log posts and 14" round horizontal beams.
A conference center is on the 2nd floor over the entry lobby. A
timbered Porte-Cochere offers protection for visitors checking
in to the lobby. Elevators and stairs provide vertical
circulation. |
